Microsoft has been working on phones to decade with varying degrees of success. Buying smart phones business was meant to hold a new era, but earlier this month, Microsoft made a dramatic turn taking bulk of staff. They insisted despite firing thousands and effectively valuing its phone business at zero.
Microsoft Says, Cortana Will Be Available In Australia, India, Canada And Japan This Summer:
Microsoft was is in the business of making smart phones with a slimmed-down ambitions, focused on business, budget phones and perhaps a glamorous flagship or two. It is managed to scrape a three percent market share, which is near enough to justify the time and money invested to date. This becomes even more plausible when you consider that Cortana is an integral part of Microsoft's Windows 10 platform.
So it's not surprising that it wants to change the focus. Microsoft mobile strategy is interesting, for a number of reasons. It is the only company with the financial and technical chops to catch up with Android and Apple. Microsoft's announcement is interesting because it means the bad news is out of the way before Windows 10 arrives at the end of the month.
Focusing only on the 6-inch screen is just as dangerous as thinking the PC will go on forever. That's what the rush into wearables over the last couple of years has been about a large-scale public beta of the next generation of technology. It will be difficult for Microsoft to go straight from the desktop to the future by right over smart phones.
